
We, at OBSTEGY Disability Support Services, believe that community access is an integral part of the life of a participant with a disability, as it facilitates access to recreational activities, social events, and much needed medical appointments. It also allows one to develop skills and competencies necessary for them to live a fulfilling life. Our team is very experienced in this area and believes that community access enables individuals to have a sense of belonging, while at the same time increasing their self-esteem and the feeling being valued.
As the saying goes, there is no place like home. People in general, need a place that is safe and comfortable enough for them to call home. OBSTEGY Disability Support Services endeavours to provide such a safe and comfortable place in the form of supported independent living/homes (SIL). SIL enables individuals to live as independently as possible as well as build their skills through performing daily tasks, while been supervised by exceptionally skilled staff at OBSTEGY Disability Support Services. When deciding whether SIL is the best option for the participant, we explore the participant goals for their prospective home and living arrangements and the support they will require with daily tasks, so as to assist in living as independently as possible. We also offer short-term accommodation services (Respite Home) with experienced support workers who help with daily tasks and capacity building.
OBSTEGY Disability Support Services provides some community nursing services in clients’ homes. We have highly qualified and experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) who can take care of complex client healthcare needs such as acute and chronic wound care/ management, medication administration and management, complex bowel care/ management, urinary catheter management, nasogastric tube management as well as tracheostomy care/management. We also have an RN with 10 years of experience in the renal/kidney dialysis field. They can provide all the necessary care needed by clients who suffer from kidney failure and all the other ailments that are associated with it. In addition, our community nurses are well equipped to request specialist assistance for clients by referral to appropriate healthcare professionals, for ongoing management of health problems.
The primary focus of the community nursing component of OBSTEGY Disability Support services is to ensure the wellbeing of clients by utilizing adequate disease prevention, health promotion, and maintenance strategies. All this is conducted in a professional and timely manner while ensuring that client autonomy, safety and a healthy lifestyle are maintained.
We offer a range of in-home support services for participants living with a disability and who want to be supported in the comfort of their homes. We help them maintain their independence, assist them with their daily living activities such as personal care, domestic assistance, medication support, meal preparation etc. Obstegy Disability Support Services has a team with an extensive skill set in in-home support. We involve the client and their significant others, in formulating a plan of care that is suitable for in-home support.
Obstegy Disability Support Services Coordinators, in collaboration with professionals from various disciplines, will implement skills and knowledge acquired from the disability sector, local providers and the NDIS, to help you get the best supports. The support Coordinator of your choice will strive to know your special circumstances to provide you with long term, tailored support over the duration of your plan. All our coordinators have extensive experience in working in disability and with NDIS. They will also assist you to manage your NDIS plan reviews as well as manoeuvre changes and ensure that your plan echos your evolving needs.
